Tree Plantation

Plantation of about 4 Lakh of trees in an around the Steel Plant thereby giving a look of forest in a steel plant
Plantation of a large variety of trees in degraded forest area covering about 13 Ha at Coal Mines and Metal Mines area
Plantation of trees in Schools of villages
Plantation of trees on the occasion of World Environment Day
Road side Tree Plantation as per the requirement of the State Government
Launching of Vriksha Mitra Abhiyan, educating children about the importance of tree plantation and distributing about 10,000 saplings for plantation by the children in and around their houses

Solid Waste Management

Dolochar from DRI is utilised in Power Plant
Fly ash is partially used for brick making and rest is disposed of into an ash pond
BF Slag is sold to Cement Plants
SMS Slag is used either for road making or charged into BF
Flue Dust and Sludge from BF is used in Sinter making in our Sinter Plant
Mill Scale of our Rolling Mill is used in Sinter making
Coal and Coke Breeze from Coke Oven is used in Sinter making

Waste Water Management

Air Pollution Prevention and Control Measures

Dust Catcher, Gas Cleaning Plant, Dust Extraction System, Top Gas Recovery System, Water Spraying Systems, WHR Systems, etc have been installed in Blast Furnace to control air pollution
ESP, Water Spraying System, Dry Fog Dust Separation System etc have been installed in Sinter Plant Complex
Fume Extraction System has been installed in Steel Melting Shop
ESP has been installed in Power Plant

Noise Pollution Prevention and Control

The major noise prone equipment is crushing, screening, billet/ bar/ ingot lifting and placement operations, compressors and turbines. Noise control is done in the following ways:
- All major operations (sinter making, steel making, rolling, etc) have been confined within a covered shed with skirt boards
- Dampening the vibrations
- Design of the equipment with in noise level of 75 dBA
